connected in some small way

I recently purchased/received a couple things that I feel worth mentioning...Just now I was handed a letter from AMA. On the back was an AMA card...this wouldn't be worth mentioning except that this is the third AMA Card that I've received in as many weeks. My mom had signed me up for a plan when I went to Saskatchewan and when they sent me all my info there was no card ... so my mom called and they said they would send a temporary card(#1) and a real card eventually...this came a week or so later approx a week and a half ago(#2)...now this third one handed to me moments ago by my mother.... I am thoroughly bewildered at what is going on...

The other thing I purchased hours ago when I needed to buy anti freeze but didn't have cash- (when I use my interact card it charges me 50 cents and so if i have to use it I usually buy a couple things so I feel it's more worth while).

along with anti freeze I bought the newest Nickel back album. Here is my 'at first glance' thoughts about this album... hopefully i don't get into trouble or sued or something... Every one is entitled to my opinion...

DISCLAIMER: The following opinions are solely of one Luke Ducharme and do not necessarily represent the views of 'duc(k/t) and run' inc. or any of its subsidiary companies.

It's an album of extremes ..some of the songs I really like and would listen more than once in a row. And some songs I think are absolute crap. Some of the songs are mellow and slow, and some are characteristic Nickelback with grinding guitars and double base pedal. 'Photograph' is a song that I enjoy. I wasn't near enough to a radio to hear it over played and I liked it. Its has a rather reminiscent effect- making me think about good times Ive had with my friends etc. even though I didn't grow up in Hanna -where for your information they have a A&W/ gas station/ pizza Hut... rather impressive...but I digress.. Their next single and the next song on the album is 'animals' and remember when I mentioned 'absolute crap' this is the song that I think off. Not only are the lyrics sketchy... but there stupid- who wants to know about a teenage boys sexual exploits that occur with out the permission of the girls parents? The guitar and drum parts of this song are also uninventive thus I dubbed it 'the worst song on the album' 'Savin me' is a honest plea for forgiveness and a 'mellow song'- a well written song with a predictable but good arrangement. On the opposite end of of the spectrum is 'side of a bullet' It is also (I felt) a well written song that speaks of the singers desire for revenge, its hard, fast and angry but the lyrics especially in the chorus speak loudly -They question how someone could be so full of hate and then seem to promise revenge by scratching someones name into the 'side of a bullet' (that's where they get the name of the song from). The first track starts of with a great drum intro. (I will admit that I have a bias here but I think its a rather neat and solid intro)...The guitar and base riff that joins is also pretty cool. The song doesn't live up to its intro lyric wise though, as it just talks about someone abusing the singer and the singer still following them home. Not as thoughtful as some of the other tracks on the album ex. 'if everyone cared' This song has powerful lyrics that wonder if people laid down there pride, didn't lie, cared, etc. what would life be like. (they suggest we would see the day nobody died) "rock star I find is a catchy tune that talks about life as a rock star... though almost every band writes a song about this and I don't agree with all the lyrics (I don't have a drug dealer on speed dial and I stay skinny because of my high metabolism) I still find the song catchy. For me it is an album that I wouldn't want to pay full price for (I took advantage of my discount) and will look at it in the future as an album that I like some songs and despise others.

Also...In Recent news!!! ...
this morning I phoned the church in Bergen and talked to the pastor of the church there and they agreed to let me preach on the 18th of march...thanks to all of you that prayed for such an opportunity. This is definitely an answered prayer. If you could continue praying that I would feel worthy to be preaching and that I would prepare my sermon which I plan on starting tomorrow.

On a slightly less spiritual note.

I wore my dad's sandals out to the car the other day. I didn't feel like putting on my shoes for a 30 second 'starting it up trip' to the car and back. It felt terrific to have my toes free again. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed that feeling. It made me not want to go inside and put on my dress shoes to go to work... Because my digital camera was conveniently in my car I took some pictures to commemorate the occasion.

I'm glad you found a church to preach at. I'm not sure what I'm doing that weekend, so I may be there or I may not.
